Portsmouth make official Sheffield Wednesday announcement

Portsmouth have made an official announcement regarding their upcoming fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Championship relegation battle is heating up at the moment, and with Pompey having just four games left to secure their survival, there is no room for error.

Every game is a cup final now for John Mousinho’s men, especially since they are just four points above the relegation zone.

Any mistakes could prove costly for the Blues, and while the pressure is on the squad, they will also require as much help as possible from the supporters.

This is particularly true for their final two away fixtures of the season, considering the poor form they have displayed on the road throughout this campaign.

Portsmouth release ticket information

Pompey have only won two away games all season, which is a significant contributing factor as to why they are in their current position.

Mousinho’s side have struggled to find form on the road, but their final two away games of the season will need to see that change.

A trip to Hillsborough will be Portsmouth’s last away match of the season on 26 April, and as the penultimate game for the entire campaign, it could have huge importance.

Mousinho will want as many fans in attendance as possible to get behind his squad, and Portsmouth released a statement on their official website on Sunday (13 April) to confirm tickets will soon be on sale.

Sheffield Wednesday have allocated them 2,400 seats in the upper tier of the West Stand, and the loyalty system will be in use for this.

Those with over 115 points can purchase their tickets from 10am on Tuesday (15 April), while anyone with more than 90 points can start buying from 1pm, and those with over 56 points can buy from 4pm.

For supporters with 40 points or more, they will have to wait until Wednesday (16 April) at 10am, while they will finally be open to the general public from 1pm that day.

The tickets are going on sale subject to availability, which could impact things.

Portsmouth will need more results

This past weekend has proven that nothing can be guaranteed in the Championship at this stage of the season, with Plymouth Argyle defeating Sheffield United in an unexpected result to throw things up in the air.

Portsmouth only have a four-point gap to hold onto, and therefore there is likely going to be a need for them to gain a few more points before the end of the season.

The Pompey fans both home and away will be important in getting behind the squad to make that happen.
