Portsmouth ‘very jealous’ as Fabrizio Romano drops Modric bombshell at Swansea
Portsmouth will be shell-shocked after Swansea agreed a deal with Luka Modric.
Second-tier clubs in England are often in a stronger position financially compared to smaller clubs in other European countries.
However, Portsmouth have been in an uphill battle to avoid relegation from the Championship this season, as they are one of the poorest clubs in the division.
To John Mousinho’s credit, Pompey are currently placed three places above the danger zone and on course to stay in the Championship, although they will need to strengthen their squad significantly this summer.

Fabrizio Romano drops bombshell Luka Modric news
Considering their current situation, Mousinho and Portsmouth fans cannot be faulted for wishing they were backed by richer owners.
Even the presence of a popular figure in the ownership group would have helped the Fratton Park outfit commercially.
Pompey’s wish is set to become Swansea’s reality as Luka Modric is in line to become a minority owner at the Welsh club.
Team | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal Difference | Points |
12. Swansea | 42 | 15 | 9 | 18 | -6 | 54 |
19. Portsmouth | 42 | 12 | 10 | 20 | -16 | 46 |
Fabrizio Romano reported via his personal X handle on Monday (14 April) that Modric has agreed a deal to acquire a minority stake at Swansea.
That is not to say the Croatia legend will be associated with the Swans in a playing capacity, as he wants to continue playing for Real Madrid.
Nevertheless, being associated with Modric will do Swansea a world of good moving forward.

Portsmouth surely jealous of Swansea
Portsmouth and all other Championship clubs will surely be jealous of Swansea after they landed a deal with Modric.
At 39 years of age, the midfielder is nearing the end of his career, and it appears he is already planning for his life after retirement.
If things go well, the Croatian could increase his involvement with Swansea down the line.
Nevertheless, this news is certain to give the Welsh giants a huge boost on and off the pitch.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth are set to continue under the ownership of the Eisners, who must back Mousinho with new signings this summer.
