Norwich City v Portsmouth preview: Team news, where to watch, supercomputer prediction

Portsmouth continue their fight against relegation from the Championship with a trip to face Norwich City at Carrow Road on Friday.

John Mousinho’s side sit four points above the relegation zone, having picked up a point against Derby County on Saturday (12 April).

With just four games left to be played this season, the pressure is on for Mousinho’s men to pull themselves away from the drop zone.

Preview

Playing fellow relegation-threatened side Derby at Fratton Park last week is a game that Mousinho would have hoped his team could take advantage of.

It looked as though the visitors could be walking away with all three points after a Rob Atkinson own goal in the 75th minute.

However, on his return from injury, Atkinson went and put things right with another goal at the other end to make it 2-2 and gain his side a point.

Nevertheless, sitting 19th in the table, there is plenty of work to be done if Pompey want to avoid the drop back to League One this season.

Portsmouth are fighting against relegation.

Norwich come into the game sitting 13th in the table and without a win in three games which could give Mousinho’s men something to take advantage of.

Nevertheless, going away from home at this stage of the season is never an easy ask.

Team News

Portsmouth haven’t had the best luck with injuries throughout the campaign, but the return of Atkinson to the squad on Saturday proved to be a massive boost to the boss.

Conor Shaughnessy could be involved in the match day squad having been working on his return from injury, although a place in the starting line-up could prove to be too much too soon.

Meanwhile, absentees Paddy Lane, Hayden Matthews, Callum Lang and Jacob Farrell are names that are out until the end of the campaign.

Norwich City could be without Jacob Sorensen who recently picked up a knock although his absence is not expected to be long-term.

Other than that, there is nothing unexpected for the Canaries with the likes of Onel Hernandez and Callum Doyle expected to be out until the end of the month at least.

Predicted line-ups

Norwich City: Gunn, Fisher, McConville, Duffy, Cordoba, McLean, Marcondes, Nunez, Wright, Slimane, Sargent.

Portsmouth: Schmid, Swanson, Poole, Atkinson, Ogilvie, Dozzell, Potts, Ritchie, Aouchiche, Murphy, Bishop.

Where to watch

Due to the game taking place on a Friday, supporters are able to watch on TV, although the game is only available on Sky Sports +.

Supercomputer Prediction

Portsmouth are after all the points they can get right now but the Opta supercomputer has put the favour in Norwich’s favour for this game, giving them a 50.8 per cent chance of winning.

A draw is narrowly more likely than a Pompey win too at 24.9 per cent, while Mousinho’s side taking all three points is 24.3 per cent likely.
