Portsmouth ace Colby Bishop told to apologise after what he did on social media

Colby Bishop could be in hot water at Portsmouth for his antics on social media this week.

Pompey have hit a rough patch of form in the run-in of the Championship, with the striker having a lack of impact on the south coast recently.

This saw the 28-year-old miss an all-important penalty in the 2-2 draw against Derby County, leaving John Mousinho’s side just four points off the bottom three.

It is fair to say that the number nine has failed to help himself after his poor showing against the Rams with his social media activity.

Portsmouth fan demands apology from Bishop

The Fratton Park club are coming into the final four games of the second-tier season with survival still on the line.

With one win in their last six games, relegation could still be entirely possible if the five sides below Pompey begin to pick up points.

One of those sides is Hull City, who sit 20th after most recently picking up a hard-fought point against playoff-chasing Coventry City.

After Matt Grimes opened the scoring, former PO4 ace Abu Kamara scored an equaliser with just eight minutes to go before sharing an image of his celebration to Instagram (14 April).

Bishop liked this post on the same weekend as his penalty miss, which sparked one fan into rage on X.

They shared an angry message to say: “Missed a penalty then likes a relegation rivals post? Apology video needed.”

This comes as the Tigers look set to travel to Fratton Park on the final day of the season, where Kamara’s side could potentially relegate Mousinho and Co.

With that being said, the response from the supporter was still over the top, and they were reminded of that by other fans, with one saying: “No, you can be happy for other players.”

Bishop not helping himself at Portsmouth

It isn’t that much of a problem to like posts from an old teammate on social media, but clearly some fans will take it the wrong way.

On another weekend, he may have put away that penalty, and then no supporter is bothered by what he is doing on social media after the game.

That isn’t the case, as shown by the aggression, but on the flip side, other fans were left somewhat baffled as to why you would take issue with something so small.

Considering Pompey didn’t fall to defeat after a Rob Atkinson brace, it is far from all doom and gloom with plenty of time remaining in the season.
