Portsmouth injury news: Callum Lang return update emerges
Portsmouth attacking midfielder Callum Lang is expected to be gradually reintroduced to first-team training after his hamstring injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that even though he did not require surgery on his hamstring, it was a significant one that ended his season back in February.
The 26-year-old is Pompey’s leading goal scorer in the Championship, finding the back of the net 10 times this season.

Lang likely to work with physios before returning to training
The English striker’s season is over, but the Fratton Park outfit will already be planning for next season and the best way to reintroduce him.
As he’s already been out for two months and is expected to be out for another two before pre-season begins, the re-injury risk will be high and he’ll need to be monitored carefully.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Portsmouth News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Sounds like he had a significant hamstring injury, and even though it didn’t require surgery, it certainly was a nasty one.
“He will be gradually and methodically reintroduced into training and then pre-season minutes with a build up towards first team matches during the normal season.
“The physios are likely to work on individual drills before he’s gradually introduced to first-team training.“

John Mousinho will look to get the most out of Lang at Portsmouth
John Mousinho will aim to maximise Lang’s potential at Portsmouth next season by deploying him in a dynamic, attacking role that suits his versatility and work rate.
The Pompey boss will likely position the Englishman as a right-sided winger or attacking midfielder in his 4-2-3-1 system, encouraging him to exploit spaces with his dribbling and direct running.
This season, the former Wigan ace thrived in a central role behind the striker and he also played the odd game leading the line.
Given the recruitment, he may move positions in order to accommodate new signings and help get the best out of them.
It’s important that Mousinho and his staff go easy on the 26-year-old in the initial weeks as he gets up to speed after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
