Norwich City told to sack Thorup after what happened v Portsmouth
Portsmouth beat Norwich 5-3 on Saturday to compound Johannes Hoff Thorup’s misery.
The beleaguered Canaries manager is facing immense pressure to hold onto his job and John Mousinho‘s side did him no favours (18 April).
The Fratton Park outfit took a huge step towards avoiding relegation and now sit five points above the drop zone with three matches to play.
The result will only increase the pressure on Thorup as his side are now four matches without a win in the Championship.

Norwich fans want Thorup gone after Portsmouth defeat
Norwich had little to play for when the sides met, as they cannot gain promotion and are safe from going down to League One.
However, they were a Premier League side as recently as the 2021-22 season and have aspirations to get back to the top flight at some point in the near future.
Championship | Played | GD | Points |
13. Norwich | 43 | +3 | 53 |
14. QPR | 43 | -5 | 53 |
15. Sheffield Wednesday | 43 | -10 | 53 |
Football Insider reported (18 April) that Thorup could be sacked by the East Anglians and replaced by Jack Wilshere, who is currently a coach with the club.
It seems like supporters have reached the end of their tether with the Danish boss after the latest setback against Pompey.

Announce the sacking of our abysmal head coach NOW, the season started in abject failure, there was a few decent results with 45 minutes performance which has papered over the huge cracks…..and is ending in abject failure . If he doesn’t go it shows the clubs ambitions

Please, please sack this clown. We won’t stay up next season with Thorup as manager!

Thorup has won 13 of 42 league games prior to the inevitable home loss to lowly Portsmouth, a club that’s won 2 away games all season prior to the customary Norwich giveaway to the needy.

Mousinho is more than safe at Portsmouth
While his opposition in the dugout on Good Friday is on thin ice, Mousinho is safe in his job on the South Coast after a brilliant resurgence.
The 38-year-old has done a fine job in keeping his side in the second tier after a tough start in which they won just two of their first 15 matches.
The highlight of the campaign was the 1-0 victory over promotion candidates Leeds United, which will give Pompey belief that they can beat the biggest sides with the right recruitment next season.
He will hope that his side can build from the momentum that they have put together in the second half of the season, which has seen them avoid relegation, barring a late catastrophe.
Mousinho can now take confidence from the way that his side have fought back from numerous obstacles that have been thrown at them in the first season back in the second tier.
