Portsmouth v Watford result predicted by supercomputer

Portsmouth boosted their chances of survival in the Championship with a massive victory against Norwich City on Good Friday.

John Mousinho’s men ran riot at Carrow Road, coming out 5-3 winners with Colby Bishop netting a hat-trick.

Portsmouth now welcome Watford to Fratton Park on Monday (20 April), knowing that another victory would confirm their Championship status.

Portsmouth set for further boost

After a massive victory against Norwich, Mousinho’s squad will be heading back to Fratton Park with plenty of confidence.

The South Coast side’s home form has been impressive throughout the campaign, and supporters will know the part that they have to play to push their side over the line.

Fratton Park is likely to be rocking on Easter Monday, with the momentum certainly on the home side.

Watford, on the other hand, sit 10 points from the play-offs and therefore, similar to Norwich, don’t have anything to play for and could come into this game with their sights somewhat on the summer already.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that the Opta supercomputer has backed Portsmouth to secure victory against Watford, with a 43.2 per cent chance.

Pompey have to be prepared to take their chances, though, because Watford have a 30.1 per cent chance of victory, while a draw is 26.7 per cent likely.

Portsmouth nearly there

It’s no surprise that Pompey are favourites going into the game against Watford, given just how massive their victory against Norwich was.

Such a result is a big boost for any side, never mind one that is battling for something in the most important period of the campaign.

Therefore, Mousinho’s men will no doubt be eager to get to their home ground on Monday and put in another big performance to hopefully secure their safety in the Championship.

One more win could be enough for the South Coast club to achieve their aims this season, and Portsmouth should be going into this clash expecting three points and nothing less.
