John Mousinho shares Colby Bishop injury update ahead of Portsmouth v Watford
John Mousinho has given an update on Colby Bishop’s injury status heading into Monday’s fixture against Watford.
Portsmouth will secure their safety in the second tier of English football with three points in that match, placing no shortage of pressure on the fixture.
Pompey are six points above the relegation zone right now, but they will not want to leave their future to chance or further games down the line when it can be resolved against Watford, giving them the chance to relax heading into the final two games.
Following on from an epic 5-3 win against Norwich during their most recent outing, there should be no shortage of confidence within Mousinho’s squad.

Mousinho provides fitness update on Bishop
Bishop’s performance against Norwich was an impressive one as he ended up scoring three goals within 51 minutes to put his team in a commanding lead.
While Matt Richie and Regan Poole went on to find the back of the net to seal the three points, it was Bishop’s performance that ended up being the difference maker.
However, the striker ended up having to be replaced in the 75th minute after he suffered a knock, with Mousinho opting not to risk him any longer in that match.
Portsmouth – final three | Date |
Watford (H) | 21 April |
Sheffield Wed (A) | 26 April |
Hull (H) | 3 May |
Fans have been worried since that point about how severe the injury is, and Mousinho has now provided an update during an interview with the Portsmouth website.
He said: “Colby Bishop took a knock to the knee before coming off and had some ice on it. That’s another that we’ll assess closer to the match.”

Portsmouth will want Bishop’s goals
At the moment, it appears Bishop’s status for the game is very much in the balance, and him not being involved would weaken Pompey dramatically.
He’s a proven goal threat, and not having him available wouldn’t be ideal when it comes to causing problems for Watford at the back.
Bishop has scored 10 times this season for Portsmouth, and losing that attacking threat would lead to Mousinho having to shuffle things with his starting lineup.
Portsmouth do have a positive record against Watford at Fratton Park though, having not lost their previous four matches against them, and that’s something that should inject some confidence into the squad heading into such an important match.
