Portsmouth must cash in on Jordan Williams after latest injury developments
Portsmouth could look to sell Jordan Williams during the summer transfer window after his latest injury blow at Fratton Park.
The 25-year-old only joined the Blues during the previous summer transfer window, but it has been a disastrous debut campaign for him.
Williams started against Watford as Portsmouth picked up a crucial 1-0 win, which secured their safety from the relegation zone.
However, he was only able to play for 52 minutes before being replaced by Terry Devlin after suffering a recurrence of his hamstring injury.
It is expected that the versatile full-back will miss the rest of the season, which will round out a forgettable season for the Huddersfield Town academy graduate.

Portsmouth might be best cashing in
Williams was signed to provide cover for multiple positions, given his ability to play both as a full-back and in midfield.
Unfortunately, John Mousinho has been unable to get the best out of him due to how many games Williams has missed due to injury.

Williams has missed 19 games so far this season due to health issues, while Mousinho has had to manage his minutes for various other fixtures in a bid to ensure the problems don’t happen again.
The full-back has played 90 minutes just seven times throughout this season, with five of those coming in the opening run of games when he was fully fit and fresh from joining.
However, his lack is consistency and serious injury problems might lead to Mousinho opting to cash in on him during the summer transfer window to sign someone more reliable instead.

Portsmouth need reliable squad players
Given that Pompey boasts one of the smallest budgets in the division right now, Mousinho needs to be able to rely upon every member of his squad to chip in.
Portsmouth don’t have the financial resources to carry players, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Williams right now.
His lack of availability throughout the 2024-25 season has been alarming for supporters and has meant that Mousinho is stretching his finances while gaining very little in return.
That’s why there could be a consideration of moving Williams on, despite him being under contract at Fratton Park until 2027.
It might be a cutthroat choice, but if Portsmouth aren’t able to get the best out of him, then it could be their only option.
