Portsmouth transfers: Three players that could leave despite survival
Portsmouth could be set to refresh their squad this summer after avoiding relegation.
The Blues successfully retained their Championship status following back-to-back wins against Norwich City and Watford over a busy Easter period.
John Mousinho’s side have ended the season in style, with the squad coming together to produce some of the best performances when the pressure was at its highest.
Supporters have urged Eric Eisner to dig deeper into his pockets and financially support Mousinho in the summer transfer window to increase the quality of the squad.
However, even though Pompey are looking forward, there is still a risk that they will end up losing some key players this summer.

Portsmouth are at risk of being raided
Portsmouth have shown their qualities this season, but their low league position means that some of the bigger outfits could look to snap up their top players in the summer.
That is why star striker Colby Bishop is at risk of being sold, as his goal threat has, no doubt, caught the eye of multiple admirers this season.
Portsmouth – top scorers | Goals | Assists |
Colby Bishop | 11 | 3 |
Callum Lang | 10 | 2 |
Josh Murphy | 7 | 13 |
Another player Pompey are set to lose is Rob Atkinson, who joined the Blues on loan from Bristol City in the January transfer window.
While the defender appears to have settled well at Fratton Park, if his home club are not willing to sell him, then there’s nothing that Mousinho can do, although replacing him will prove to be tough.
While losing Bishop and Atkinson would be less than ideal, one sale that Pompey might be considering is Jordan Williams.
The versatile full-back only joined the club last summer, but he has struggled to make an impact at Fratton Park throughout this season.
Various injury issues have plagued his time at Portsmouth, to the point where they might contemplate cashing in on him and reinvesting in another player to make better use of the budget.

Portsmouth must add to their squad, not weaken it
Pompey might have survived the drop this season, but the focus now has to be on moving forward and progressing, not going backwards.
That is why it will be crucial for Mousinho to try and keep hold of as many of his current squad as possible, with the team spirit being clear to see.
If he is able to sprinkle in some additional bits of quality to that group, then the Blues have a real chance of progressing up the division next season.
