Mousinho announces Portsmouth attacker is finished at Fratton Park
Portsmouth can breathe a sigh of relief after securing their safety for a second consecutive season of Championship football.
John Mousinho already has his work cut out ahead of next term, as he will be keen to build on the foundations of this term and have a smoother season.
The boss will need some backing in the summer transfer window to add new faces to the side, with plenty of decisions for the boss to make.

Adil Aouchiche has played final Portsmouth game
Portsmouth have been hit by a number of injuries throughout the campaign, which has led Mousinho to change his side on a fairly regular basis.
The boss added to his team in the winter transfer window, in the hope of strengthening enough to stay in the Championship and those additions paid off.
One of the loanees who arrived at Fratton Park was Adil Aouchiche, joining from Sunderland until the end of the campaign.
The 22-year-old has made 12 Championship appearances for the South Coast club since his arrival, scoring once to help guide Pompey to safety.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
12 | 1 | 1 |
However, in the 1-0 victory against Watford on Easter Monday, Auochiche was forced off at half-time due to injury and was not part of the squad that drew with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday (26 April).
Mousinho has now confirmed to The News that he will not play for Portsmouth again as he said: “No, he has a fractured bone in his hand, we won’t see him again, there is no point in risking him.
“He’s not gone back, he’s been in getting his treatment here, we’ll see what happens next week.”

Portsmouth have work to do in the summer
Auochiche’s future at his parent club is uncertain as Sunderland are set to take part in the play-offs in the hope of achieving promotion to the Premier League.
If the Black Cats were promoted, that could well push the attacking midfielder out of any plans, meaning a loan deal could be on the table should Portsmouth fancy it.
Given he is staying put on the South Coast rather than immediately returning to the Stadium of Light does suggest there could be some interest in a deal next season.
However, the Mackems are struggling for momentum as it stands and if they stay put in the Championship, it could change everything.
Regardless of Sunderland’s outcomes, Mousinho could probably benefit from looking elsewhere, especially as he needs to improve his side for next season.
Auochiche could have contributed more at the top of the pitch in his appearances for Pompey and he probably hasn’t done enough to make a big case for himself.
With the summer edging closer, this could be the first of a few goodbyes at Fratton Park.
