Eisner sends message amid major Portsmouth development at Fratton Park

Eric Eisner has celebrated a significant achievement by Portsmouth this past weekend.

There has been plenty for Pompey fans to cheer recently after John Mousinho successfully guided the men toward safety in the second tier of English football.

Portsmouth had been flirting with relegation throughout the entire season, largely own to their dreadful away form, but positive results in the second half of the campaign got them over the line.

The Blues avoided relegation with a couple of games to go, which has taken the pressure off the squad as the season winds down.

However, Mousinho’s men are not the only ones who have successfully navigated a relegation battle this season.

Portsmouth Women earn a huge statement result

Portsmouth Women took to Fratton Park on Sunday (27 April) in a crucial match at the bottom of the WSL 2 against Blackburn Rovers.

The squad took full advantage of playing in the main stadium as they put on a show for the supporters by winning 4-0.

Goals from Megan Hornby, Emma Thompson and a Sophie Quirk brace secured the result for Pompey, which guaranteed their survival in the league.

It was an important result for the team as relegation would’ve had a massively negative impact on the squad, but instead, everyone associated with the South Coast club was in party mode.

That includes owner Eisner, who celebrated the news on X with a brief message to fans saying: “Everybody is staying up!”

It comes after he had previously posted “staying up” in relation to the men’s side.

Portsmouth will now be moving forward

After both the men’s and women’s teams have successfully avoided relegation this season, the focus for the Blues will be on progression.

Pompey fans of both teams are keen not to be involved in another relegation battle next season, and that puts some pressure on the summer recruitment.

Both the men’s and women’s sides will need to be reinforced over the summer to try and guarantee they don’t end up in similar situations, placing pressure on Eisner from a financial perspective.

Portsmouth fans have previously called him out to financially back Mousinho so that he can push the team to the next stage.
