Hull City relegation chances predicted by supercomputer ahead of Portsmouth clash

John Mousinho is able to breathe a sigh of relief going into the final game of the Championship season, having saved Portsmouth from relegation this season.

It has been a turbulent season for the South Coast side and the fight against the drop has been going on throughout the campaign.

However, Mousinho’s men lifted their standards at the right time and have fired themselves on to a second consecutive campaign in the second tier.

Things aren’t looking so positive for Hull City, though, who could suffer relegation at Fratton Park on the final day of the season.

Hull looking towards misery in Portsmouth

Portsmouth welcome Hull City to Fratton Park on Saturday (3 May) for the final game of the season.

A few weeks ago, this would have been tipped in a massive game in the fight against the drop, although Mousinho’s men did enough to pull themselves away from the danger.

Hull, on the other hand, still come into this clash at risk of relegation to League One, sitting 22nd in the table.

There are still a number of clubs at the bottom who can go down, depending on results across the league this weekend.

The fight against relegation is tight.

However, the Tigers look to be in for a bleak weekend as the Opta supercomputer has predicted that Ruben Selles’ side are likely to be relegated.

The Yorkshire side have been given a 53 per cent chance of being relegated going into the final day of the campaign, with Luton Town the closest behind them with a 28.24 per cent chance.

With that in mind, Mousinho’s side could be set to end the season on a high.

Fratton Park ready for Portsmouth celebration

It may have been a tough season at times, but Portsmouth have done well to retain their place in the Championship and supporters will be keen to celebrate that.

The South Coast side have done well at their home ground throughout the season and therefore, Mousinho and his players will be looking forward to the send-off for the term.

Having been a part of the fight throughout the campaign, Pompey fans will be able to empathise with their opponents if they are to get relegated at the weekend and it’s never nice to see that happen to other sides.

Nevertheless, Mousinho will be eager to start looking ahead to the summer transfer window with the hope of progression at Portsmouth, ready for next season.
