Callum Lang ‘new contract’ hinted at Portsmouth after social media post
Callum Lang has been a dynamic figure for Portsmouth in his 18 months at Fratton Park so far.
Lang hit 10 Championship goals before he was struck down with injury back in February, from which he has recently returned to the warmth of the Pompey fans.
The forward is expected to be a huge part of John Mousinho‘s setup next season, as the Blues look to further establish themselves and climb the table.

Lang post sparks new deal rumours
Lang is out of contract in 2026, something some Portsmouth fans have recognised and have a slight concern sat at the back of their minds.
The 26-year-old has always expressed his love for the city and the fans, and it is certainly demonstrated in his performances.
Had the former Wigan Athletic man been fit all season, it is highly likely Mousinho’s men would have sealed Championship safety sooner than the Easter weekend.
Fratton Park is currently experiencing the ‘calm before the storm’ ahead of the final day against Hull City on Saturday (3 May), with the hosts in celebratory mood looking to finish on a high, but Hull fighting for their lives and potentially needing to win.
Lang, however, was present at Fratton Park on Wednesday, judging by a social media post from his account.
Portsmouth X page Pompey Xtra (30 April) posted a screenshot from Lang’s Instagram story, pitchside at Fratton, quoting “lovely gaff” – leading fans to speculate why else the player would be at the stadium other than to arrange or sign a new contract.
Portsmouth could start summer with major contract boost
Portsmouth would give their ardent supporters even more to cheer about should Lang put pen to paper on a new deal.
One would imagine it would be something of a priority given the way he seamlessly stepped up from League One level when others struggled; this and his age could alert rival suitors with deeper pockets.
Callum Lang – Portsmouth | Total |
Appearances | 44 |
Goals | 14 |
Assists | 3 |
Mousinho revealed the Eisners would sanction further funds to invest in the squad this summer, a massively welcome boost for Rich Hughes and his staff, and that extends not just to transfers but also tying down key current players.
It could all be guesswork – but could Pompey’s number 49 be here to stay?
