Rangers next manager: Odds slashed for Portsmouth hero to be new Ibrox boss
Fratton Park will have breathed a big sigh of relief over the past few weeks after John Mousinho’s men secured Portsmouth’s safety in the Championship.
It has been an up-and-down season for Pompey who, despite facing difficulties at times, will be proud of what they have achieved, securing a second consecutive season in the second tier.
The South Coast side aren’t too dissimilar to Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers in the respect of facing struggles this season and now a former Portsmouth man could be going to Ibrox to steady that ship.

Gary O’Neil in running for for Rangers job
Portsmouth may have had their struggles at points this season, putting some pressure on Mousinho’s job but ultimately, sticking by their manager has paid off and pulled them to safety.
The hierarchy at Fratton Park will now need to be prepared to back the boss over the summer transfer window, giving him the resources to make the necessary additions.
Portsmouth hero Gary O’Neil has been linked with several jobs of late, with clubs making big changes ahead of the new campaign.
Rangers are seeking a boss in the hope of rejuvenating the side under new ownership of the 49ers Enterprises.
Looking at the Bookmakers’ odds, there is a chance that O’Neil could be making the move to Ibrox, with BetVictor slashing the odds of him getting the job to 20/1.

Portsmouth ready to look forward with Mousinho
With Rangers just one of many clubs that are in the market for a new boss ahead of the new season, Portsmouth must be feeling grateful that they did not jump too fast when things got tough.

It was always going to be a battle to retain a place in the Championship on Pompey’s first season back in the second tier, and getting themselves out of the battle against relegation as soon as they did is something that needs celebrating.
That being said, the South Coast outfit certainly don’t want to find themselves in the same position next season and have to be prepared to work hard over the summer to strengthen their squad.
Mousinho’s men have struggled with fitness this term, which should give the boss a helpful eye for the necessary criteria he is seeking from new additions.
With the problems in Glasgow at the moment, Mousinho has potentially found himself with the easier job than O’Neil if he is indeed appointed at Ibrox.
