Bishop stinks in 4/10, Saydee shines – Portsmouth player ratings v Hull City
Portsmouth were held to a 1-1 draw by Hull City on the final day of the Championship season.
Christian Saydee’s second-half equaliser ensured that Pompey have ended the season on a five-game unbeaten run, while Hull have successfully retained their Championship status thanks to West Brom’s win over Luton.
The Fratton Park outfit encountered early disappointment when Harvey Blair was injured in the 16th minute and had to be replaced by veteran Matt Ritchie.
Hull caused John Mousinho’s side problems in the first half via Gustavo Puerta’s long throw-ins, before the Tigers broke the deadlock as the unmarked Matt Crooks scored from a corner.
Portsmouth trailed 1-0 at the break with Ritchie and Marlon Pack missing key opportunities to equalise.
Pompey began the second half in a positive manner, as Connor Ogilvie’s cross found its way to Saydee, but the substitute was unable to convert.

Hull’s Joe Gelhardt then weaved his way through Mousinho’s defence before his shot was thwarted by Conor Shaughnessy’s block.
But Saydee’s well-struck leveller ensured that the spoils were shared at Fratton Park on Saturday, while Ben Killip made a stunning save to deny Hull’s Charlie Hughes late on.
