Sky Sports reporter stunned after ‘sensational’ Portsmouth moment v Hull

Portsmouth ended the season with a draw against Hull City as one Fratton Park star blew Sky Sports pundit Mark McAdam away.

Ahead of the final day of the season, John Mousinho’s side had already secured safety in the Championship, while the Tigers arrived at Fratton Park on Saturday (3 May) fighting for their lives.

Therefore, it wasn’t much of a surprise to see Matt Crooks give the visitors the lead after 18 minutes.

However, Christian Saydee ensured the hosts didn’t end the season with a defeat, with his second-half goal enough to earn Portsmouth a point, while results elsewhere meant Hull survived in the Championship.

McAdam stunned by Saydee goal for Portsmouth v Hull City

Ahead of kick-off, Mousinho’s team selection all but confirmed to supporters that one Portsmouth player could be leaving this summer.

Meanwhile, Saydee came on at half-time against Hull and proved to Mousinho why he deserves a chance at Portsmouth next season.

The 22-year-old topped off a fine all-around display with his goal, and it was quite a strike too, as emphasised by McAdam.

While speaking live on Sky Sports News (3 May, 1:45 pm), the pundit said, “It is a sensational strike.

“It starts with Marlon Pack, a nice little flick around the corner, you can see Matt Ritchie with the step over, and [Christian] Saydee, half-time substitute, what about that for a finish, into the bottom corner.

“He hits it with such ferocity, absolutely incredible strike.”

Saydee must be given a chance in pre-season for Portsmouth

Overall, it has been a positive season for Portsmouth as they secured Championship status.

It looked at times, particularly earlier in the season, as though Pompey were destined for the drop. Therefore, Mousinho and his players will be delighted with the job they have done and will be looking ahead to the summer and next season full of optimism.

However, Saydee will likely be disappointed with his campaign on an individual level after hardly making any starts for Portsmouth. Fortunately for the striker, he ended the season on a high and offered a timely reminder to Mosuinho why he should be handed more opportunities in pre-season ahead of next year.
