Portsmouth ready to announce player exits with announcement before May 17
Portsmouth completed their first season back in the Championship with a 1-1 draw with Hull City at Fratton Park.
With Pompey’s second-tier status confirmed some time ago, the South Coast club have been planning their squad for next season.
As it stands, a staggering 10 players could leave John Mousinho’s side before the impending deadline.

EFL set Pompey deadline for retained list
With the close season now concluded, only the play-offs remain to decide who will reach the Premier League.
For Portsmouth, the season is complete, and the EFL have announced a May 17 deadline for clubs to submit their retained list.
The only exception to this deadline is for the clubs involved in the play-offs, meaning Sheffield United, Sunderland, Coventry City and Bristol City have an extension.
EFL regulations state that clubs must inform players of contract decisions by the third Saturday in May.
Pompey have a host of players who could leave Fratton Park this summer unless their situations change over the next few weeks.
One player who will be staying is Andre Dozzell, who secured a further year on his deal after Mousinho’s side ensured survival.
Portsmouth boss Mousinho also confirmed earlier in the season that the club will take up the option of another year on Kusini Yengi.

Ten players could leave Portsmouth
Portsmouth currently have four players on loan who will return to their parent clubs at the end of May.
Adil Aouchiche, Rob Atkinson, Kaide Gordon, Freddie Potts and Isaac Hayden have all been on loan and will leave unless Pompey can secure them permanently.
| Player name | Contract type | Contract end date |
| Adil Aouchiche | Loan | May 31 2025 |
| Rob Atkinson | Loan | May 31 2025 |
| Kaide Gordon | Loan | May 31 2025 |
| Freddie Potts | Loan | May 31 2025 |

| Ben Killip | Permanent | June 30 2025 |
The South Coast outfit have seven players on permanent contracts who will all leave in the summer unless anything changes.
Portsmouth hold the option to extend the contract of Zak Swanson by a further year, although no announcement has been made on his future.
Swanson featured 32 times in all competitions this season at right-back, having signed in 2022.
Mark O’Mahony, Cohen Bramall, Alexander Milosevic and Ben Killip have no option to extend their deals.
With just under a fortnight to go until the EFL deadline, the South Coast club have some important decisions to make on a cluster of their squad.
