Chris Wilder applauds Portsmouth after what he has seen them do
John Mousinho will no doubt be breathing a sigh of relief that the season is over, despite his success at Portsmouth.
The Pompey boss did an impressive job with his side throughout the campaign, despite the difficulties that were faced along the way.
Having secured a second consecutive season of Championship football, Mousinho won’t be able to rest for too long as the attention will turn to bringing in additions ahead of next term.

Chris Wilder credits Portsmouth for survival
In their first season after promotion to the Championship, Portsmouth were always going to have a big task on their hands, especially given the size of some of the budgets in the league.
However, the decision to stick with Mousinho paid off as he led his side to survival with a bit of time to spare before the campaign ended.
The key now is to build upon that and look to push further up the table next season, rather than being in another scrap at the bottom of the league.
Position | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost |

The level of competition in the second tier was proved once more with the number of clubs that could have been relegated this term, as well as those that were fighting for an opportunity to go to the Premier League.
Therefore, Chris Wilder was keen to heap praise on Mousinho and his men following the conclusion of the campaign.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (7 May, 8:53 am), the Sheffield United boss said: “You’ve got to applaud all the teams that have got in the play-offs and the teams that were potentially tipped to go down, your Oxford United’s and the Portsmouth’s and the seasons that they’ve had.”
Mousinho needs backing by Portsmouth
It may not be the easiest summer transfer window for Portsmouth as the boss needs to strengthen his side, but also beat other Championship clubs to secure signings.
However, Mousinho has done an excellent job with his side this season and therefore, he needs to be backed up when it comes to the transfer window to allow him to continue that progress.
It is clear to see that the dressing room at Fratton Park is a happy place and the supporters are pleased with the work their boss is doing, too, meaning there is a platform to start working from.
Getting the transfer business right will prove to be vital, though, but if done correctly, there is no reason why Mousinho’s men cannot climb next term.
