Mousinho now favourite for West Brom manager job after what Portsmouth chief said
John Mousinho deserves plenty of credit for the job he achieved with Portsmouth this season, securing Championship survival.
Although the boss admitted he felt the pressure at times, Portsmouth supporters were glad to see their side stand by Mousinho throughout the campaign.
The attention at Fratton Park should surely be turning to the summer transfer window and adding to the current Pompey squad.
However, Mousinho’s work this term has gained him admirers and he is now the favourite for the managerial vacancy at West Brom.

Rich Hughes feeling Portsmouth anxiety over Mousinho
Transfer windows can always be nervy periods for supporters who have strong assets, but unfortunately for Portsmouth, one of their best is at the helm.
Several Championship sides are looking for a new manager in preparation for the 2025/26 season and Portsmouth are feeling the pressure.
Sporting Director at Fratton Park, Rich Hughes, has already admitted that he is concerned about the boss’ future on the South Coast with worries that he could be poached.
Hughes said that he was “sure” Mousinho would be on the radar of other clubs as a result of the work he has done with Pompey this term.
That fear has seemingly come true, too, with the bookmakers now naming Mousinho as the favourite for the vacancy at West Brom, with odds at 2/1.
The Baggies are looking for a new boss after sacking Tony Mowbray, who failed to secure a top-six finish in the Black Country.

Portsmouth could lose Mousinho
Portsmouth are clearly looking at a long-term plan when it comes to their future, which includes building on what they have started this term.
With that in mind, keeping Mousinho in the hot seat will be vital to the success at Fratton Park.

However, with the likes of West Brom sniffing about, it could spell real danger as this is a job that would certainly be a step further up for the boss.
Just because he’s the favourite doesn’t mean anything and some at The Hawthorns will be hoping that a more reputable name is who comes through the door.
However, with Hughes already admitting he is concerned, it doesn’t make for great reading at this stage.
If Pompey can keep hold of their boss, this has to be backed up with retaining the likes of Josh Murphy too and providing the best shot at progression.
