Portsmouth set for behind-the-scenes documentary, Eisner admits copying Wrexham
Portsmouth may have faced some difficulty this season, but securing a second consecutive season of Championship football has served as a relief at Fratton Park.
John Mousinho deserves plenty of credit for the work he has done on the South Coast, but the boss will be eager to build upon that and push his side up the table next season.
It will not be an easy league to compete in once more, especially when you consider the size of some of the budgets coming into the league from below in Birmingham City and Wrexham.
With that in mind, Michael Eisner has admitted he has something up his sleeve for Portsmouth.

Portsmouth to recreate behind-the-scenes documentary
When you look at the level of teams that are in the Championship these days, it’s no secret that you need a strong budget to be able to compete and unfortunately for Pompey, they are not one of the big clubs financially.
This doesn’t rule Mousinho’s men out of success, but owner Michael Eisner is, unsurprisingly, keen to find ways for his side to expand their revenue streams.

As former Disney chairman, he has turned his attention to one area, admitting that a Portsmouth documentary is something he had previously considered.
However, after looking at the success experienced in Wrexham with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney producing their Disney series, Eisner is looking at the opportunity to follow in their footsteps.
According to Sportico (9 May), Pompey are planning on producing a behind-the-scenes series with six cameras following the team and leadership at Fratton Park.
Eisner admitted he was learning from those around him in order to increase revenue as he said: “We’ll be copying them to a degree. It’s complicated.
“You have to think hard about how you want to invest.”

Eisner right to look at Portsmouth expansion
Eisner is doing the right thing by looking at increasing the revenue streams at Portsmouth, in the hope that his side can reap the benefits of this on the pitch.
His side have plenty of history, an excellent stadium and a strong fanbase, but football is becoming increasingly about money and therefore, this is needed to compete comfortably.
When you look at the size of Wrexham’s budget, it is something that has clearly worked for them and will continue to boost them as they seek to climb the second tier.
The problem facing Eisner is that this is becoming a crowded space with Birmingham and Wrexham’s documentaries, meaning there would be three Championship shows next season.
That being said, there is plenty of apathy with the other two sides due to the level of money they have put in and therefore, Pompey could win hearts by having more authenticity.
