Portsmouth want to agree ‘significant’ Sunderland transfer deal
John Mousinho knows that he needs to build on the progress his Portsmouth team has made this season, adding to his side in the summer transfer window.
Although Pompey secured their safety in the second tier with some time to spare, the league is only set to strengthen next term, putting more pressure on Mousinho’s men.
The boss has already turned attention to transfers, though, and a deal could be struck with Sunderland in order to strengthen the South Coast outfit.

Nectarios Triantis on Portsmouth radar
As Portsmouth search for new additions, one man who is on the radar is Nectarios Triantis of Sunderland.
The 21-year-old has spent the season on loan with Hibernian and, according to the Daily Record (9 May), Pomepy are prepared to rival his loan side to secure his services in the summer transfer window.
The report states that the South Coast club were keen on Triantis’ services before he made the loan move to Scotland and have been impressed by his form throughout the campaign.
It’s yet to be seen what the Black Cats want to do with their youngster in the summer with Mackem News relaying claims that Hibs want to sign him permanently.
However, the answer to that could well depend on their play-off campaign and having got regular game time this season, Triantis will be keen to continue racking up the minutes going forward.

Sunderland could be swayed by Portsmouth interest
It will be interesting to see what Sunderland decide to do this summer but it feels unlikely that they will be willing to part ways with Triantis on a permanent basis just yet.
However, if another loan deal was going to be sanctioned, the midfielder would have to take a step up and surely, regular Championship minutes is representative of that.
Given the two second-tier sides were able to strike a deal for Adil Aouchiche during this campaign, there could be a good relationship between the teams to follow that through with a new deal this summer.
The Australian has shown promising form for Hibernian so far, contributing to his side’s attacking efforts while playing regularly in the middle of the park.

Pompey have not been afraid to use temporary deals to their advantage throughout this season and we could well see the same happen ahead of the new campaign.
The problems could occur if the Black Cats are looking for a permanent transfer, which would require Mousinho’s men to table a “significant” monetary offer to prize away a man under contract at The Stadium of Light.
