Andrew Moon shares two-word update on Portsmouth links to Crystal Palace ace
John Mousinho is planning a huge summer transfer window at Portsmouth.
The in-demand manager kept the Fratton Park outfit in the Championship last season with a five-point margin and is looking to build on that.
The Eisners have been urged to back the 39-year-old in the market as he aims to consolidate the PO4 side’s second-tier status and potentially fight for a promotion spot.

Mousinho move for Mustapha ruled out
Pompey have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace youth gem Hindolo Mustapha in recent days.
Mousinho was reported to have personally watched the 18-year-old in action for the Eagles Under-21s and a loan deal was speculated.
However, BBC reporter Andrew Moon poured cold water on that transfer, claiming via his X account (16 May) that it was “extremely unlikely.”
Portsmouth need to back Mousinho in the transfer window
The Palace youngster would have been a perfect addition to Pompey’s squad, Mousinho clearly has a great eye for talent and if he feels he would have made a difference, it was a smart move to make.
West Ham youngster Freddie Potts thrived on the South Coast and it is possible that Mustapha could have done the same despite his lack of senior action in his career so far.
Stats | Mustapha |
Matches | 28 |
Goals | 11 |
Assists | 9 |
He has notched 11 goals and nine assists in the latest Premier League 2 campaign and it would have made sense for the Eagles to loan him out to get experience playing among quality players.
The Blues boss has already shown that he can get the best out of top-tier loanees and would have been confident of doing so with the three-time Sierra Leone international.
However, it appears like Mousinho and Co will have to look elsewhere after the update from Moon, which will be a blow for the former Burton Albion man as he looks to strengthen his squad.
The board need to show that they have a similar ambition to their manager and are not happy with just sitting comfortably and surviving, they must strive for greatness or they could lose a promising head coach if they fail to back him in the market.
