Portsmouth will be looking to bolster their squad ahead of another campaign in the Championship, and news from Ibrox may provide them with the perfect opportunity.

After Championship survival was sealed last time out, Portsmouth will be looking to go one step further under John Mousinho in the new campaign.

In the end, the Blues finished fairly comfortably above the drop zone, and had it not been for injuries at Fratton Park, they may have sealed that far sooner.

However, that is in the past now, and Pompey will already be looking ahead to the summer transfer window and the signings they can make within it, and they have a very nice option to look at.

Mousinho needs to be backed in the summer, and he must be provided with the finances to seal new, top-quality signings, though there is no harm in picking up a few players on a free.

The experience and squad depth alone make Balogun a feasible option, though his wage demands could prove to be a block, depending on what he wants.

This summer promises to be a huge one for Pompey, and it is imperative that they get recruitment right.
