Kusini Yengi could join League One club after Portsmouth exit
Kusini Yengi could be set for a swift return to English football after Portsmouth chose not to offer the Australian a new contract.
Yengi joined Pompey from Western Sydney Wanderers in July 2023 and scored 14 goals as Portsmouth were promoted to the Championship.
The 26-year-old will become a free agent on June 30 when his contract at Fratton Park expires.
Yengi’s Championship season was restricted by injuries, playing 14 times and failing to score, as John Mousinho sent his well wishes immediately.

Wycombe could sign former Portsmouth ace
Like Portsmouth, League One side Wycombe could be in for a busy summer transfer window.
According to Bucks Free Press, Yengi could be a target for the Chairboys, who missed out on promotion to the Championship through the play-offs this season.
Wanderers have already announced the departure of 15 players, and Australian international Yengi could be one of the replacements.
The 26-year-old is currently on international duty with the Socceroos as they face Japan and Saudi Arabia in World Cup qualifiers.
Yengi has impressed for his nation, scoring six goals in eleven games since he was called up in November 2023.
After an impressive first few seasons in England, Yengi could prove a shrewd signing at League One level and help Wycombe push for promotion again.
The striker was released from Pompey alongside Cohen Bramall, Tom Lowery, Alexander Milošević, and Anthony Scully.

Portsmouth could regret Yengi release
Yengi was a bright spark in Pompey’s promotion from League One as he averaged a goal every 95 minutes.
Injuries, however, again plagued his 2023/24 campaign, with fans wondering what the striker could achieve if he were to stay fit.
Matches | Goals | Assists |
45 | 13 | 2 |
Portsmouth could regret not offering the Australian a new deal if he returns to his prolific form in the third tier, and Wycombe swap places with the south coast side.
However, keeping the forward for another injury-hit campaign would prove costly for Pompey, who already run on a tight budget.
Letting Yengi leave frees up wages in the Portsmouth squad and could allow the Blues to spend on someone who can help them build on their 16th-place finish, alongside Colby Bishop.
Mousinho has done a fantastic job helping Pompey back to the Championship and keeping them there ahead of next season.
Pompey face an uncertain summer, with Mousinho subject to interest from elsewhere and being tasked with replacing six loanees who have returned to their parent clubs.
