Portsmouth must ‘seal Jed Wallace transfer’ after new West Brom update

Portsmouth are on the lookout for new stars to strengthen their squad now that the summer transfer window has opened.

The Blues registered a 16th-place finish in this season’s Championship, but it’s widely acknowledged that they’ll need signings to continue progressing.

Several former Pompey players have been linked with a move back to Fratton Park, and one of these is looking increasingly likely to be allowed a transfer this summer.

Jed Wallace tipped to be allowed to leave West Brom

Pompey have been monitoring developments with Jed Wallace for a while.

The PO4 club reportedly enquired about Wallace’s availability last summer, but the winger stayed at West Bromwich Albion.

However, a number of Baggies fans have lost their patience with Wallace and are calling for him to be sold.

In an interview with Football League World, fan pundit Callum Burgess explained: “I think he’ll have a few years left of being able to play at Championship level, but not at a promotion-pushing standard as he was a few years ago

“I think he’ll want to move to somewhere where he’s more of the main man, like he was at Millwall or somewhere he’ll be able to contribute more.”

Wallace also received a backlash when he criticised the squad’s performances toward the tail end of the season, with several fans on X insisting that he wasn’t good enough for them.

Wallace signing would be great addition to Portsmouth squad

Wallace was an exciting young winger during his first spell at Portsmouth when the Blues were playing in League One and League Two.

The midfielder moved on to bigger and better things, but his relationship with the fans at The Hawthorns isn’t the strongest.

Pompey and Wallace are now in a position where a move back to Fratton could be a huge win for both parties.

Portsmouth are seeking midfielders and Wallace is one who would add a strong goalscoring threat. He would be an instant hit with the fans as well.

West Brom are currently without a manager, so he likely won’t be permitted to leave until they appoint a new boss.

The likelihood of him being sold will depend on whether the new boss favours him, and it might take some time before any players are allowed to leave The Hawthorns.

Nevertheless, John Mousinho and his recruitment team should definitely enquire about a transfer this summer.

It could potentially be a match made in heaven.
