Portsmouth and Arsenal earn prestigious award at Downing Street ceremony
Portsmouth continue to re-establish themselves as a major force in English football, and will deservedly enjoy a second season in the Championship next year.
After a long spell in the depths of League Two and League One, Pompey returned to the second tier this season.
Despite flirting with relegation throughout the campaign, John Mousinho’s men eventually registered a 16th-place finish, five points above the drop zone.
Now, the Fratton Park side have been recognised once again for achievements off the field.

Portsmouth receive award at Downing Street ceremony
In an award ceremony held at Downing Street on 2 June, Portsmouth were one of four football clubs to be inducted into the Show Racism the Red Card Hall of Fame.
This award recognises the club’s efforts to champion anti-racism messages through the power of sport.
Portsmouth chief executive Andy Cullen and Pompey in the Community CEO Clare Martin MBE both attend the ceremony to accept an award on behalf of the club. It was presented by the charity’s honorary president and former Blues goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
Pompey in the Community has been responsible for several awareness-raising events across Portsmouth over the years, particularly in schools.
Arsenal, Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland were the other three football clubs to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Portsmouth fans continue to show impressive support
Portsmouth Football Club continues to represent its city immaculately both on and off the pitch.
Its partnership with Show Racism the Red Card is one of several important off-the-field initiatives supported by the club.
The PO4 club recently announced that over 14,000 Fratton Park season tickets had been sold for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Season tickets are capped at 15,000 and there are more than 3,000 people on the waiting list, the club has announced.
Fratton Park was virtually sold out for every Championship game last season and it’s looking likely to be the same during the 2025-26 campaign.
Ranking | Games Played | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals Scored | Goals Against | GD | Points |
16th | 46 | 14 | 12 | 20 | 58 | 71 | -13 | 54 |
Until the season begins in August, supporters will be eagerly anticipating the recruitment of new players that can help to push them up the Championship table.
They’ll also be praying that their manager remains at Fratton Park, as Mousinho continues to be linked with the vacant Bristol City job.
