Christian Saydee sends two-word message on Portsmouth goodbye post

John Mousinho is in for a busy summer as he prepares Portsmouth for a second consecutive season of Championship football.

The Blues were close to the relegation zone on several occasions through the campaign, although Mousinho proved he had what it takes to save his side from the drop.

With big spenders in Wrexham and Birmingham City coming up from League One, though, Pompey must be shrewd in their business this summer to ensure a smooth ride next term.

With plenty for Mousinho to do this summer, the boss has wasted no time in offloading some of his squad ahead of the transfer window.

The Australian international was released at Fratton Park after struggling to find consistency in his fitness and form this season.

Although the 26-year-old was a star for Pompey in League One, the step up to the Championship seemingly proved to be too much for him to handle.

Yengi struggled to replicate his form in the Championship.

From a footballing perspective, Yengi’s release made sense with Mousinho not being able to take big risks ahead of the new campaign.

However, the striker was a popular figure at Fratton Park and that sentiment has been echoed throughout the dressing room.

After Yengi took to Instagram to write a heartfelt message to the supporters, plenty of his teammates commented on the post to wish him well.

Christian Saydee left two comments. One of two sad face emojis and another that said: “My brother.”

Saydee could be next out of Fratton Park

Although Saydee is staying put at Portsmouth as it stands, the 23-year-old could well be on his way out of Fratton Park this summer too.

The forward made 29 Championship appearances this term, but just 10 of those were from the starting line-up, suggesting he certainly isn’t a first-choice option on the South Coast.

With Saydee also set to enter the final year of his contract this summer, if Pompey could cash in, it would be a perfect time to do so.

Portsmouth already have a small budget in the league and with some of the money set to come into the competition next term, it will only get harder.

Therefore, Pompey have to be prepared to cash in on certain players if the right offer comes in, allowing resources that can be reinvested.
