Exclusive: ‘Portsmouth to sign new forward’ amid ‘unbelievable’ Mousinho update
Portsmouth could now make a swoop to sign a forward in the summer.
Pompey are coming off the back of a positive season back in the Championship and will be keen to build on that movoing into the new campaign.
This saw the PO4 club end the year with a five-match unbeaten run, which could be the perfect breeding ground for a run towards the top half next time around.
This could see John Mousinho look to add firepower to his squad in the upcoming window, with the signing of a forward potentially in the pipeline.

Portsmouth to sign a forward in summer window
There is no hiding away from the fact that goals were a problem at different points throughout the season at Fratton Park.
Josh Murphy’s exploits were of massive help on the south coast, but no one truly hit the same levels as the man signed from Oxford United.
Stat (Championship 24/25) | Josh Murphy |
Appearances | 42 |
Goals | 7 |
Assists | 14 |
As a result, it will be little surprise if new signings come in, especially after the departure of Kusini Yengi at the end of his contract.
This will put pressure on Colby Bishop to provide a positive return, which is a risk that Mousinho can’t take coming into a second-tier campaign.
As a result, former Pompey midfielder Martin Allen has backed the head coach to assess his squad before bringing in a new forward to help bolster his side.
Speaking exclusively to Pompey News, Allen said: “All the teams [in the Championship] will be looking for a goal scorer.
“At the moment, every manager will be working out how many goals his team are going to score.
“They’ll look at recent seasons at how many goals you need to get into the play-offs, win the league or avoid relegation.
“Mousinho will work it out for his team and have a good idea of where his side are going to finish with the players he currently has.
“After a poor start last season, Portsmouth had an unbelievable climb up the table, so this time around, a forward who is going to score goals is going to be absolutely crucial.
“This could take them from this mid-table place, up into the play-offs and get them challenging.“

Mousinho has transfer plan at Portsmouth
Given how proactive the English head coach has been in PO4 since joining, it would be little surprise to know how far in advance his transfer dealings are.
Alongside Rich Hughes, the 39-year-old will already be working to build the best possible squad for the new campaign.
This could kick start with the addition of Abdoulie Manneh from Sweden as the hunt for firepower goes global for Pompey this summer.
It is certainly a positive era at Fratton Park, one which could be set to get better with some shrewd additions in the upcoming window.
