Portsmouth news round-up: Yengi sends message, favourite could return to Fratton Park
Portsmouth fans like to say that there’s no such thing as a quiet day at Fratton Park.
Although the 2024-25 season is over and the transfer window is temporarily closed, there has still been a fair bit of news coming out of Fratton Park in the last 24 hours.
Here, Pompey News summarises the main headlines.

New limited edition Portsmouth shirt slammed by fans
Pompey have unveiled a limited-edition shirt that is made up of components of various shirts from over the years.
The shirt was added to the club’s online ‘Retro Vault’ store and is available to buy there now for £49.95.
While some fans marvelled at the design of the kit, others were horrified.
Comments from Pompey fans on X: included “It’s hideous”, “I wish I could unsee it” and “Can we delete it”.
Yengi sends a touching message to Pompey fans after departure confirmed
Kusini Yengi will play for Aberdeen next season, after finalising a deal with the Scottish Cup holders earlier this week.
The Australian was interviewed by BBC Radio Solent before making his move north of the border, and was keen to leave a parting message for the Pompey fans who treated him so well.
He said: “You’ve got an amazing club there and an amazing city. Keep sticking behind the team and supporting them, and the gaffer.
“The players next year are going to need that support to help take the club back to where they should be and where they were in the past. I’ll be following and supporting, and good luck for the future.”
Yengi will be available for selection in either the Europa League or the Conference League next season, depending on how Aberdeen fare in their European playoff game.
Pompey favourite could return to Fratton Park dugout next season
Sheffield United look set to sack their manager Chris Wilder, following the club’s failure to earn promotion to the Premier League.
Although Wilder’s departure hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, bookmakers have already opened the markets on who is most likely to replace him in the Bramall Lane hotseat.
Former Pompey midfielder Gary O’Neil is second-favourite, meaning Portsmouth could be welcoming back to Fratton Park when Sheffield United visit in the Championship next season.
