Portsmouth ‘to make Segecic move’ amid new European development

Adrian Segecic has emerged on the radar of Portsmouth as they look to bolster their side in the coming months.

After an impressive season in the Championship under John Mousinho, Pompey will be targeting a lot more than survival in the 2025/26 campaign.

Segecic, who plays for Sydney FC, is a highly-rated winger who may be the right fit for the Fratton Park outfit.

Pompey must make Segecic move as Rapid Vienna deal falls through

According to The News (15 June), Mousinho’s side are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old as they’re keen on signing him.

It’s understood that a move to Rapid Vienna was on the cards for the Australian attacker.

However, he was then made aware of interest from England and now his priorities have changed.

This opens the door for Pompey to make a move for him as he’d be open to playing Championship football next season.

Mousinho is a fan of A-League talent and the Championship outfit are scouring for players on that side of the world.

Last season, Kusini Yengi, Jacob Farrell, Hayden Matthews and Thomas Waddingham, all Australians, were on the club’s books.

It is a trend that is likely to continue, especially as Mousinho’s priorities are apparent and also the team needs to strengthen.

Portsmouth must engage in discussions with Segecic’s representatives

Portsmouth must now make their interest in the 21-year-old even clearer by initiating contact with his representatives.

If he is willing to move to England, there will be clubs that would be willing to take a punt on his services.

It’s imperative that the Fratton Park outfit beat their competitors to signing him and they could do that by agreeing personal terms with him.

He’s certainly going to get a decent pay hike as clubs in England can offer higher salaries and also a larger platform to showcase his skills.

Time is still of the essence and if Mousinho gives his green signal, Portsmouth need to make their moves as quickly as possible.
