Portsmouth ‘finally show signs of intent’ as exciting Price transfer update drops
Portsmouth fans haven’t had much to get excited about this summer.
There have been no new arrivals at Fratton Park so far, and the club has mostly only been linked with underwhelming transfer targets.
However, there are some emerging signs that the club is about to show some real intent in the transfer window.

Portsmouth keeping tabs on Northern Ireland midfield star Isaac Price
It’s well known that Pompey need new central midfielders, after loan stars Freddie Potts and Isaac Hayden both returned to their parent clubs.
Now, SportsBoom reports (16 June) that Portsmouth are interested in signing young West Bromwich Albion midfielder Isaac Price in an attempt to fill that gap.
The 21-year-old already has 22 caps for Northern Ireland, and he has scored nine goals on the international stage.
He only signed for West Brom last January, and the Baggies are likely to put a large price tag on the youngster’s head, but that hasn’t prevented John Mousinho from keeping tabs on him.
If Pompey were to make a sizeable bid for Price, that would finally show the fans that they’re serious about improving their squad this summer.

Marquee signing needed in Portsmouth’s midfield
West Ham loanee Potts was key to a lot of the good work seen by Portsmouth last season.
The 21-year-old has the energy to link defence and attack, and rarely gives the ball away when he receives it. He’s a real gem.
It’s little wonder that Portsmouth fans have been disappointed with the proposed replacements for him so far.
Price is a player who also brings that level of energy and precision. What’s more, he’s shown that he has a goal or two in him (at international level anyway).
Isaac Price career statistics | Appearances | Goals |
Everton (2021-2023) | 3 | 0 |
Standard Leige (2023-2025) | 59 | 1 |
West Bromwich Albion | 15 | 1 |
It would be an ambitious play to pry him away from West Brom, particularly as Premier League clubs Burnley and Sunderland are also believed to be monitoring him.
It seems a deal for his West Brom teammate John Swift would be more likely, as Pompey have also been keeping tabs on him.
If Mousinho can get either of these players in the door, his team would be much better prepared to continue their progression up the league.
