Portsmouth transfer news ‘could spell the end for Paddy Lane’
Portsmouth are preparing to improve their squad ready for another tough season in the Championship.
There have been no confirmed signings through the door at Fratton Park so far this summer, but the club has been linked with a handful of exciting attacking players.
And the latest rumoured transfer could spell the end for Paddy Lane’s Portsmouth career if it materialises.

Segecic to Portsmouth transfer speculation grows
The speculation linking Adrian Segecic with a move to Portsmouth has intensified in the last 24 hours.
Pompey haven’t put in an official bid for the Sydney FC winger, but it’s understood that John Mousinho is a big admirer.
Segecic fired in 18 goals in 35 appearances for Sydney this season, and it would be hoped that he could repeat that rich vain of goalscoring form in England.
However, a move for Segecic could spell the end for Paddy Lane at Fratton Park.
Some fans have labelled Segecic as a direct replacement for Lane, as they both offer similar attributes to the team.
Indeed, Portsmouth don’t have a huge budget for this summer’s transfer window, so Mousinho might have to sell some players to make room for new signings.

Mousinho has to be ruthless as he builds Portsmouth squad
Lane played a key role in helping Portsmouth get promoted to the Championship.
The Northern Irish international scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in League One two seasons ago.
However, he hasn’t been as productive in the second tier. A knee injury ended Lane’s campaign early, but he had only provided one goal and one assist before that.

The fact that Mousinho is seeking a player like Segecic suggests that he might think Lane isn’t up to the job at Championship level.
That might seem harsh on the 24-year-old, but this level of ruthlessness is needed to build a Championship squad on a small budget.
As exciting as the Segecic rumours are, they could mean that Lane’s days at Fratton Park are numbered. It wouldn’t be all that surprising if he was transferred back down to the lower divisions this summer.
