Gareth Bale to ‘make Portsmouth star first Plymouth signing’ after huge takeover news
Plymouth Argyle could be set to move for a Portsmouth player following news that Gareth Bale wants to lead a takeover of the club.
Portsmouth have had a quiet start to life in the summer transfer window so far, with only departures happening at Fratton Park.
Kusini Yengi, Tom Lowery and Alexander Milosevic have all been confirmed exits, with Christian Saydee now attracting interest from Plymouth.
However, Adrian Segecic appears to be on the verge of arriving at Fratton Park.

Plymouth wants Portsmouth striker Christian Saydee
Bale is fronting talks with an American-backed consortium to take over Plymouth, who have seen Ryan Hardie leave for Wrexham.
Journalist Darren Witcoop reported on X on Tuesday (17 June) that Hardie will be moving to Wrexham for £700,000.
Witcoop added that Portsmouth striker Christian Saydee now tops Plymouth’s list of possible replacements.
Portsmouth | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Christian Saydee | 30 | 3 | 0 |
Portsmouth have the lowest budget out of all the Championship clubs. Therefore, this may mean they need to sell before they buy.
If Champions League winner Bale comes knocking at Fratton Park for Saydee, they would be smart to sell.
Selling could mean they can strengthen their squad and hopefully avoid a relegation battle next season.
A lot of League One clubs want back-up striker Saydee, who ended the 2024/25 campaign on a high with a goal in the last game of the season.
What Portsmouth need to do in the transfer window
Selling Saydee makes sense – he hasn’t shown he can surpass Colby Bishop as a goalscorer.
Saydee’s contract expires in 2026, and to help out with expenses, it would be smart to accept a bid for his services.
If Pompey do sell, it will leave them light upfront with Yengi also departing this summer.
But, if the Blues are smart in the transfer window they can get a striker who can perform in the second tier.
They could also turn to look to academy player Tayo Singerr, who is showing big potential.
Singerr has been a star performer in the youth set up in the 2024/25 season.
Many fans want to see him in the first-team setup under manager John Mousinho, and it may make sense to look within.
