Portsmouth Exclusive: Allen blown away by Fratton Park announcement – ‘Oh my God’
Portsmouth are building towards a second consecutive season in the Championship.
Pompey secured an excellent finish last time out as the PO4 club pushed up towards the mid-table spots and avoided a relegation battle entirely.
This can only be seen in a positive light, just 12 months after John Mousinho secured promotion back to the second tier in his first season as head coach.
Even with that being the case, the latest development emerging out of Fratton Park has left former midfielder Martin Allen impressed.

Allen impressed by Portsmouth announcement
There was plenty to cheer about for supporters throughout the 2024/25 season, which may have come as a surprise to many.
The output of star players like Josh Murphy made the difference for Portsmouth, as fans got behind their side in sizable numbers on the south coast.
This saw Pompey register the highest capacity to attendance ratio in the entire Championship at 97.9 per cent [Transfermarkt].
Rank | Club | Capacity | Average attendence | Ratio (%) |
1. | Portsmouth – Fratton Park | 20,688 | 20,259 | 97.9 |
2. | Luton Town- Kenilworth Road | 11,850 | 11,551 | 97.5 |
3. | Norwich City – Carrow Road | 27,244 | 26,316 | 96.6 |
4. | Leeds United – Elland Road | 37,890 | 36,128 | 95.4 |
5. | West Brom – The Hawthorns | 26,850 | 24,942 | 92.9 |
As a result, it is little surprise to learn that 12,000 season tickets have already been renewed, ready for the new season, as revealed by Portsmouth in a 30 May announcement.
It is fair to assume that more tickets have now been sold, with ex-Brentford and Leicester City boss Allen left blown away by the supporters once again.
Speaking exclusively to Pompey News, Allen said: “It’s a massive club, an absolutely massive club.
“The passion from Portsmouth Football Club, oh my god. 12,000 have already renewed, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s much, much higher when it comes to it.
“The people down there are absolutely mad about their football, and the club is only going to grow.
“John Mousinho has done a fantastic job after having injuries at the start of last season. The turnaround to get them up to the middle of the table, now they’ll be looking towards the play-offs.
“I would imagine there’s massive excitement all around.“

Portsmouth season ticket sale figures amaze
There is a lack of superlatives that can describe how excellent the supporters have been in PO4 for so long, regardless of recent struggles.
That has been showcased by the sizable season ticket sales, which only look likely to grow until the window eventually opens up.
With a raft of supporters picking up these tickets, the expectations are only likely to grow, in a development which the Fratton Park faithful need to rein that in.
A number of players have left, including Rob Atkinson and Isaac Hayden at the end of their loan spells, so as it stands, a skeleton squad remains.
It will certainly be interesting to see what happens once the summer window opens and how supporters react to the developments.
