Mousinho ‘to do it again’ as Portsmouth set sights on exciting gem Nuamah

Portsmouth fans will be celebrating the imminent capture of Australian playmaker Adrian Segecic, but more attackers will be needed at Fratton Park before the transfer window closes.

Manager John Mousinho is short of proven centre-forwards and could do with some more competition for places on either wing.

These additions, along with the imminent arrival of Segecic at Fratton Park, will stand Portsmouth in good stead to compete well in the Championship next season.

Italian winger Patrick Nuamah targeted by Portsmouth

Patrick Nuamah is another player on Pompey’s radar, according Gianluca Di Marzio via X (18 June).

The 19-year-old Italian winger made 24 appearances for Brescia in Serie B last season, pitching in with two goals. He has earned one cap for the Italy Under-20 side.

He would be available on a free transfer as his Brescia contract is about to expire.

AZ Alkmaar, of the Dutch Eredivisie, are also reportedly interested in striking a deal with the left-footed protege.

If signed, Nuamah would compete with Josh Murphy for a place on Pompey’s left wing, although he’d likely initially feature as a back-up while being honed as a star of the future.

Mousinho has proven he has an eye for a young star

In Mousinho, Pompey have a manager who has proven he has a keen eye for young players. And he could do it yet again with Nuamah.

He drafted in 21-year-old Freddie Potts on loan from West Ham last season, who went on to dominate midfield battles throughout the season for the Blues.

His recruitment of Australian stars like Hayden Matthews and Thomas Waddingham provides further proof of his ability to scout emerging talent.

And Pompey fans will hope that 20-year-old Segecic is the latest in a long line of capable youngsters to deliver the goods at Fratton Park.

Nuamah isn’t a big name that has caught the attention of several clubs in the same way that Segecic did.

But, if Mousinho thinks the Italian can add some value to his squad, the board should go ahead and back him.

It’ll hardly break the bank to take a punt on the former Brescia winger, and he could turn out to be the next Mousinho masterclass signing.
