Josh Murphy reacts as Portsmouth make transfer announcement
Josh Murphy enjoyed a superb 2024-25 campaign for Portsmouth, more than playing his part in keeping his side in the Championship.
Murphy scored seven times and set up a further 14 as Pompey avoided an instant return to League One.
If Portsmouth want to build on their 16th place finish and further establish themselves as a Championship outfit, then building the team around players of Murphy’s quality is vital.
Portsmouth have been commended for their prudent financial approach, which has been a key factor in their success on the pitch in recent years.
Now, Pompey may have pulled another rabbit out of the hat when it comes to their latest signing.

Murphy pleased with signing of Adrian Segecic
Portsmouth confirmed the signing of Segecic from Sydney FC for an undisclosed fee on Thursday (18 June).
Segecic, 21, is Pompey’s first confirmed signing of the summer, with the announcement being posted on the club’s official Instagram account (18 June).
Murphy reacted to the news by liking the post, and it is clear to see why.
Segecic netted 13 league goals in 14 starts in the Australian A-League last season.

With Portsmouth potentially lining up with Murphy on one wing and Segecic on the other, Championship defences will not be looking forward to their trip to Fratton Park next season.
Portsmouth must keep the ball rolling now
It is unclear in what position exactly John Mousinho will deploy Segecic next season, with the Australian offering versatility in the final third.
Signing Segecic does not automatically rule out Pompey signing John Swift, with there being potential to fit them both in the same team.
Portsmouth do still need to strengthen their defence and midfield, however.
With loan midfielders Freddie Potts and Isaac Hayden playing a massive role in keeping Pompey in the Championship, both players need to be replaced after they returned to their parent clubs.
Isaac Price has been linked with a move to Fratton Park, with the Northern Irishman catching the eye of Mousinho, who could use him to fill the void in his midfield.
