Portsmouth fans in agreement after what Segecic has said about Fratton Park
Adrian Segecic has shared what he’d heard about Portsmouth before signing for the South Coast club.
The Australian playmaker is Pompey’s first signing of the summer, following his move from Sydney FC.
And now he has spoken about his move for the first time since joining.

Segecic shares what he’d heard about Portsmouth before signing
Segecic revealed that he’d heard about the famous Fratton Park atmosphere before completing his move to Portsmouth.
In a quote shared on Portsmouth’s X page (19 June), the 20-year-old said he was ready to give it all to earn the support of the Pompey fans.
Segecic added: “Once I had a chat with the gaffer, that was it done. I heard about Fratton Park and the face and I’m keen to give 110 per cent.”
Portsmouth fans excited to welcome Segecic to the club
It’s a somewhat generic statement to make about a new club, but somehow it hits different when a player mentions the Fratton Park atmosphere.
Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho are among the opposing players to have complimented the noise made by the Fratton faithful.
And it makes sense that Segecic would have been alerted about that. Portsmouth are gaining a reputation in Australia, now that John Mousinho has signed five players from the A-League.
Either way, Portsmouth supporters were delighted to hear Segecic’s assessment of the club, with many using X to share their joy at his arrival – and his comments.

See you soon.
Segecic will be used at the right time
Mousinho has developed a reputation for his ability to pick out emerging stars.
It’s becoming a running joke how Mousinho is finding so many in the A-League.
Even so, the Pompey boss will know the right time to let Segecic loose in the Championship.
Appearances | Minutes Played | Goals | Assists |
35 | 1956 | 18 | 3 |
The second tier of English football will be a step up in quality that might take some getting used to.
After all, Segecic’s only experience outside of A-League football came during a loan spell for FC Dordrecht in the Dutch second division.
Still, everyone at Portsmouth will be encouraged by the bright starts made by Mousinho’s other Australian signings. Hayden Matthews and Thomas Waddingham looked particularly bright in their opening games before their progress was halted by nasty injuries.
There will be a lot of expectation surrounding Segecic for that reason, but in Mousinho, he has a manager who will help to keep a level head on his shoulders.
