‘Portsmouth to sign another Australian’ to send Mousinho into the playoffs

John Mousinho has made it no secret that he likes signing Australian players.

Adrian Segecic signed for Portsmouth earlier this week to become the fourth Aussie in Pompey’s squad.

There are clearly plenty of bargains to be had in the A-League, as Portsmouth look to march up the Championship table.

Now that the signing of Segecic is complete, Mousinho should not end his pursuit of Australian stars there.

Portsmouth should go all-out for Australian Noah Botic

Another Australian who Portsmouth need to be looking at this summer is Noah Botic.

The striker had an excellent season in the A-League as he netted 16 goals in 29 appearances.

The 23-year-old’s form at the end of the season was particularly impressive as he scored four times in the Finals Series, including a hat-trick past Adelaide United.

Botic was one of the highest-rated young players in the world before his move back to Australia.

Back in 2019, when in Hoffenheim’s academy, he was named among one of the best 60 young talents in the world.

Botic has been fantastic at Western United

Now he is showing signs of reaching this potential with A-League’s 20 (16 June) reporting that Botic has 16 offers on the table from all over Europe this summer.

The striker’s contract is set to expire at the end of June at Western United, and he looks likely to head to Europe.

Given Portsmouth’s popularity with Australians, Mousinho needs to go all-out to sign the upcoming striker.

On a free transfer, the 23-year-old is a bargain, and Pompey may be able to convince him to join the South Coast Club, given their connections with the country.

Botic could prove to be a perfect striker this season, and with his clinical nature, he could propel Portsmouth into the playoffs.

Mousinho needs to take advantage of Portsmouth’s Australian connections

While every signing Portsmouth make shouldn’t be from the A-League, Portsmouth should take advantage of their connection with the division.

There are many fantastic players in Australia who would easily make the cut in the Championship.

Mousinho now need to look to dominate this market as it could be Pompey’s route back to the Premier League

Hopefully, if Portsmouth go down this route, it will prove to be fruitful at Fratton Park.
