‘Ibane Bowat must go’ – Three Portsmouth loans Mousinho could agree this summer

Portsmouth are set for a busy summer window as they prepare for the upcoming 2025/26 Championship season.

John Mousinho is aiming to build on the South Coast club’s 16th-place finish last season in a successful return to the second tier.

Portsmouth sealed their first arrival of the summer this week, with Adrian Segecic signing on an impressive free from Sydney FC

However, departures are also expected, both permanently and on loan.

Portsmouth News has examined three players Mousinho must send out on loan this summer.

Harvey Blair

Harvey Blair was signed by Portsmouth last summer from Liverpool.

The youngster is believed to have plenty of potential and is only 21 years old.

At the end of the 2024/25 campaign, Blair scored his first goal for Portsmouth in the 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

However, for the majority of the season, Blair had struggled at Pompey, with multiple stars being ahead of the winger.

Therefore, a loan move would see him gain vital game time and confidence as he develops into a star.

Ibane Bowat

Ibane Bowat had a nightmare first season at Portsmouth. The centre-back did not make a single appearance after his move from Fulham due to an injury.

As a result, Bowat has been tipped to be like a new signing for Pompey this season once he returns to full fitness.

However, it would be a mistake for Mousinho to allow the 22-year-old to return to the first team picture at Portsmouth.

After spending so long on the sidelines, the defender needs to be eased back into action, and a short-term loan deal could be ideal.

If a League One club comes in for Bowat, offering regular football, Portsmouth should not think twice about accepting.

Thomas Waddingham

Part of Portsmouth’s Australian contingent, Thomas Waddingham has also struggled with injuries since his arrival.

The striker had shown signs of being a good player at Pompey after he scored on his debut. However, he now may find himself down the pecking order after the signing of Segecic this week.

Therefore, a loan deal might be the best way for Waddingham to prove his worth to Mousinho and adapt quickly to English football.

Hopefully, a deal can be sorted out over the next few weeks.
