Mousinho has ‘perfect chance’ to turn back time at Portsmouth to sign Robertson
John Mousinho has a busy summer ahead at Fratton Park, preparing his squad for another season of Championship football.
Mousinho continued to show his talents in the hot seat as he saved Pompey from the drop last season, despite occupying the relegation zone at times.
Michael Eisner was right to stick by his boss throughout the campaign, but he will be expecting the Blues and Mousinho to build on their initial progress next term.

Portsmouth have unexpected link with Alexander Robertson
After the way he left Portsmouth, making the move to Cardiff City rather than a permanent move to Fratton Park, Alexander Robertson may not be in the good books of all Blues fans at the moment.
With Cardiff being relegated to League One last season, there will certainly be some smug faces in the stands at Fratton Park as they prepare for life in the second tier.
However, Robertson has come back into the Pompey sphere, thanks to the work being done by his father off the field.
Pompey News exclusively revealed that his dad, Mark Robertson, has been working as a mentor to Adrian Segecic and had a role to play in completing his transfer to Fratton Park.
Robertson’s involvement does pose the question, though, of whether there could be an opportunity for Mousinho to add another Australian to his squad, this time looking back.

Portsmouth could see Robertson return
With Cardiff being relegated to League One, Robertson certainly won’t be feeling his happiest, and if a move were available this summer, you can imagine he’d be keen to go for it.
Season | League | Team | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | Championship | Cardiff City | 35 | 3 | 3 |
2023/24 | League One | Portsmouth | 23 | 1 | 4 |
As Mousinho continues to increase the Australian contingent in his side as well, he may well have one eye on a reunion with the midfielder.
Given that Mark has already worked with Portsmouth this summer to help them complete a strong signing, it suggests a relationship is still there for the past to be water under the bridge.
At a young age and with plenty of talent, Robertson could well help to improve Mousinho’s side for another season of Championship football, especially with Freddie Potts back at West Ham.
Whether Cardiff will be willing to part ways easily is yet to be seen, but given the proximity, Mousinho now has a perfect opportunity to explore a deal to bring the young star back for a second chance.
