Bristol City fans hit out at Portsmouth as Atkinson contract agreed – ‘Brilliant news’
Portsmouth have now learned about the future of Rob Atkinson at Bristol City.
The 26-year-old was a key player for Pompey in the second half of last season after joining on loan from Ashton Gate in the January window.
This saw the Englishman feature regularly as John Mousinho guided the PO4 club away from the Championship relegation places.
As a result, there was a hope of bringing Atkinson back to Fratton Park among supporters as the summer window continues, but that has now disappeared.

Bristol City fans speak out after Atkinson update
After signing for the Robins back in 2021, the centre-back made over 60 appearances before being shipped off to the south coast.
It is fair to say that Atkinson caught the eye of Pompey supporters, particularly in the draw against Derby County, where he scored two and netted an own goal.

With that being said, his return would have made sense for all parties as the Blues look to build on their successes in the second tier.
That doesn’t look likely to be the case, however, as the ex-Oxford United man has now signed a new deal with Bristol City.
The Robins confirmed on 23 June that the defender had agreed and put pen to paper on a new deal until 2028.
This sparked widespread reaction from fans at Ashton Gate, with many taking the opportunity to poke fun at the Pompey faithful.
One described this move as “brilliant news” for the BS3 club, while also saying “sorry” to Portsmouth in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
Another fan wasn’t so kind as they said “have that lads” in response to Mousinho’s side, while another suggested that Atkinson “hates the Pompey”.
Portsmouth miss out on Atkinson deal at Bristol City
Transfer business has already kicked off on the south coast with Adrian Segecic joining from Sydney FC at this early stage of the window.
There was hope that Atkinson could soon follow the Australian through the door if he were to move on from the red side of Bristol.
That is no longer going to be the case after this new deal has been agreed, leaving Regan Poole and Conor Shaughnessy as the main centre-back options as it stands.
