Portsmouth ready ‘signing of the summer’ after Pelle Mattsson transfer news
Pelle Mattsson could be the big-name arrival of the summer in midfield for Portsmouth.
The departure of loan duo Freddie Potts and Isaac Hayden from Pompey has weakened the South Coast club ahead of a second year in the Championship.
Portsmouth have already been eyeing multiple players as possible replacements, with John Swift linked with a return to Fratton Park.
However, Portsmouth appear to have zoned in on Mattsson, who has impressed at Silkeborg IF.

Mattsson to use Portsmouth as ‘stepping stone’
Portsmouth’s pursuit of Mattsson is certainly an exciting one for the Fratton Park faithful.
The 23-year-old is seen as one of Denmark’s best upcoming talents and has shone at Silkeborg IF, winning the Danish Cup in 2024, securing European football for last season.

Now, amid the ongoing rumours, scout Ross Henderson believes that Portsmouth could steal the headlines if they can secure Mattsson’s signature, adding a warning alongside it.
He said: “Pelle Mattsson to Portsmouth might be the signing of the summer if Pompey can pull it off.
“Can’t see it as anything more than a stepping stone, a transfer that I expected the sharp Premier League teams to be looking at.”
Nonetheless, Portsmouth should still pursue the transfer. The midfielder is clearly an excellent player and has amazing versatility.
If Pompey can get the signing over the line, Mattsson could prove to be the difference-maker next season, and possibly push the South Coast club into the top half.
However, the Fratton Park faithful should be wary about getting too close to the star, as a good season could see him depart.

A new midfielder vital for Mousinho
Whether it is Mattsson, Swift, or someone else completely, a new midfielder is a must for Mousinho this summer.
Pompey are massively short in this area, and it has to be a priority in the transfer market.
A new midfielder is likely to be the difference between a relegation battle and mid-table safety this season.
Hopefully, Mousinho will be able to get one of his targets over the line before pre-season games begin, ready for the upcoming Championship campaign in August.
