Alex Robertson’s dad reacts to new Portsmouth transfer talk – ‘All I can say is…’
Alex Robertson has been linked with a return to Portsmouth this summer following Cardiff’s relegation to League One.
Robertson, 22, won the third-tier title while on loan at Fratton Park in 2023/24.
However, instead of staying on the South Coast when his temporary deal expired, he left Manchester City to join Cardiff on a four-year contract.
Robertson has been one of many Australian players to grace Fratton Park during John Mousinho’s time as manager and a recent deal for Aussie talent Adrian Segecic has led to speculation that the Bluebirds midfielder could also head to Portsmouth this summer.

Alex Robertson focused on Cardiff but loved his time at Portsmouth
Alex’s father Mark Robertson has recently been spotted at Portsmouth after Segecic’s arrival from Sydney FC was confirmed.
The former Australia, Burnley and Sydney player lives in the UK and currently acts as a mentor for Australian players who are making moves to British football.
His recent appearance on the South Coast was nothing to do with a deal for his son to return to Fratton Park but speculation about a new Pompey bid for Alex Robertson has been rife in the last week.
Speaking exclusively to Pompey News about his son’s situation at Cardiff, Mark Robertson revealed that Alex is currently fully committed to playing for the Welsh club.

“All I can say as Alex’s dad is that he absolutely loved his time at Portsmouth,” Robertson told Pompey News. “He’s made some really good friends for life. Portsmouth holds a very fond place in his heart.
“One thing that people need to understand in football is that things can change very, very quickly, and I don’t think anybody, including Alexander, will 100 per cent be able to say he’ll be here next week or there next week.
“Right now, Alexander’s giving everything he can to Cardiff City and I know the people of Portsmouth would appreciate that.
“There’s nothing in this moment in time I can say that will make anyone feel better outside of that Alexander is fit and ready to play football. That’s the most important thing for me.
“Whatever happens in the future will be up to other people outside of me. We’ll wait and see.”

Who have Portsmouth signed so far this summer?
Portsmouth have had a fairly quiet June but have still managed to announce a couple of ins and outs from Mousinho’s first team.
Segecic signed from Sydney FC for an undisclosed fee on 18 June.
Christian Saydee left Pompey a day later to join Wigan on a permanent basis.
Kusini Yengi, Cohen Bramall, Tom Lowery, Anthony Scully and Alexander Milosevic have all been released due to their contracts ending.
Yengi has since signed for Aberdeen in Scotland.
