‘John Mousinho has next Fratton Park star’ as Portsmouth want Kosznovszky

John Mousinho faces a crucial summer as he readies his Portsmouth squad for the upcoming Championship season.

The second tier is set to grow stronger once again next season, with at least two of the three newly-promoted sides from League One not expected to be anywhere near a potential relegation battle.

As a result, it is imperative that Michael Eisner strengthens Mousinho’s hand in the transfer market, as their competition could be significantly stiffer next term.

Pompey have already signed off on the signing of Adrian Segecic, and they will need plenty of further additions if they are to consolidate their position again.

Portsmouth have made an offer for Mark Kosznovszky

Eisner has big ambitions for Portsmouth’s future, but those plans will go to waste if they ever fall back into the third tier.

As a result, investment at this moment in time could prove to be just as crucial as that which comes further down the line.

With the Segecic deal done and dusted, Pompey are now making a move to add to their midfield ranks.

They have already tabled an offer for MTK Budapest’s Mark Kosznovszky, according to the Italian journalist Lorenzo Lepore (27 June).

The South Coast outfit are said to have offered the 23-year-old a three-year deal, which would see him potentially earn a weekly wage in the region of £5,700.

Kosznovszky is also understood to be open to a return to Italy, where he was previously part of the youth setup at Parma.

Kosznovszky’s career to date

Andre Dozzell’s consistency issues will have likely placed a midfielder towards the top of Pompey’s list of priorities for this summer’s window, so this latest link comes as no surprise in that respect.

That need is only heightened by Freddie Potts and Isaac Hayden returning to their parent clubs.

However, few people would have expected them to be targeting players from the Hungarian top flight.

Kosznovszky’s career stats.

Kosznovszky has spent the last two years playing in the highest division in his homeland, having previously spent a chunk of his senior career out on loan in the second tier.

The nine-cap U21 international made his senior debut for Parma back in 2021, having come through their academy ranks, but he has no further experience in the major European leagues.

Portsmouth’s ploy of exploring the Australian market has brought plenty of previously unknown players to Fratton Park, and it looks like Kosznovszky could be the latest to fit that mould from elsewhere.
