USMNT fans not happy about Griffin Yow to Portsmouth transfer latest

Portsmouth are keen on making a very exciting attacking signing in Griffin Yow, but not everyone is happy.

Yow has impressed at Belgian side Westerlo, and is considered a hugely promising talent in his native USA.

Portsmouth are aiming to strengthen their attack with another winger, and have identified the 22-year-old as someone who could make an instant and long-term impact.

The 22-year-old has already appeared for USA at various levels, including at the Olympics last year, but their fans are now concerned about Yow’s potential move to Portsmouth.

USA fans want bigger move for Yow than Portsmouth

Portsmouth are aiming to bring Yow to Fratton Park this summer, but fans who are eager to see him develop for the USMNT want a different move for him.

Some believe that while Portsmouth could be a good place for him to develop, some are keen on seeing him move to a top-flight league.

“I’d prefer Griffin Yow to move to a top team in Belgium,” one fan said, adding: “But the Championship seems to be where everyone is headed so let’s just take over the league I guess.”

Another added: “Not my preferred move for him.”

Portsmouth could be ideal for Yow’s development

Yow has performed superbly in the Belgian top flight, and his next destination could be crucial in his development.

Playing regularly under John Mousinho in the Championship could be ideal, given the prospect of regular football against tough opposition ahead of the World Cup next year.

USMNT fans will have to be patient with him, but should Yow hit the ground running, they may end up getting their wish and seeing him in a top league.

Should the winger perform well at Portsmouth, he could help Mousinho’s side push higher up the Championship table, and if interest develops from a top league, Pompey could stand to profit.

Signing Yow would be a great bit of business for Portsmouth, and there will also be extra interest in his progress from the USA.

The winger has five caps for the USMNT and appeared for them at the Olympics last year, but he will need to impress at Portsmouth if he joins and hopes to play a part as they host the World Cup next summer.
