Portsmouth star Marlon Pack sends message as Derby complete signing
Portsmouth are looking to build a stronger squad in the summer transfer window to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Championship.
The goal for John Mousinho will be to recruit new players, while keeping hold of his top stars who performed so well last season.
Pompey have one of the smallest budgets in the league, so it won’t be an easy feat.
However, things are going well so far, with Australian playmaker Adrian Segecic arriving and no star players having been sold.

Marlon Pack sends a message as Derby complete signing
Marlon Pack is a player who remains in Mousinho’s plans. Pompey’s skipper turns 35 this season, but his manager has recently praised the impact he has on the pitch and in the dressing room.
Pack was nurtured in Portsmouth’s youth academy, but made a name for himself at Cheltenham, Bristol City and Cardiff, before making an emotional return to Fratton Park in 2022.
On Tuesday (1 July), he left a comment on an Instagram post of former teammate Andreas Weimann, who has completed a transfer from Blackburn to Derby.
It’s Wiemann’s second spell at Derby, and he’ll also reunite with former manager John Eustace.
Pack, who played with Weimann at Bristol City, left three ‘raising hands’ emojis to celebrate the transfer.
Portsmouth will have to spend wisely during this transfer window
Weimann is the type of attacker who would thrive at a club like Portsmouth.
The Austrian is 33 years old, but he is a proven marksman at Championship level.
| Appearances | Minutes Played | Goals | Appearances |
| 33 | 1567 | 8 | 2 |
He suffered a nasty injury during his one-year spell at Blackburn, but did enough at Ewood Park to show that he’s still got what it takes at this level.
Sadly, Weimann’s wages are likely too high for Portsmouth to even consider making a move for him – and that’s just the way it is at Pompey at the moment.
Mousinho is unlikely to be able to bid for proven stars. Instead, he’ll have to take a punt on youngsters and players from foreign leagues.
Thankfully, he has proven himself to be extremely adept in the transfer market, so Pompey fans still have reason to expect an even stronger team to support this season.
