Alex Robertson would ‘love’ Portsmouth return after new Segecic reveal

Portsmouth are expecting a busy few weeks of transfer business as they look to finally get the ball rolling this summer.

John Mousinho’s side will need to add to the signing of Adrian Segecic if they are to have a chance of staying up in the Championship again next season.

Segecic reveals Robertson transfer talks

Australian midfielder Robertson has regularly been linked with a return to the south coast this summer.

The Cardiff star impressed for Portsmouth during a loan spell at Portsmouth in 2023-24, in which he made 27 appearances before his season was ended early by a hamstring injury.

Robertson’s fellow Aussie, Segecic, had some interesting words to say about a potential return for the former Manchester City youngster.

Speaking on BBC Sounds (7 July), he said: “I spoke to Hayden (Matthews) a lot and obviously Robertson, I work closely with his dad and him as well, so he had everything to say about how much he loved the club and how good it was.”

On a potential return for Robertson, he added: “I think he would love to (return), but we will see what happens with him.”

The 22-year-old has previously spoken about how much he enjoyed his time at Fratton Park, prompting fans to dream of a potential reunion with Mousinho.

Cardiff’s relegation to League One has renewed hope that Robertson could return, but there is concern that Pompey will be priced out of a move, with countless clubs interested.

Portsmouth’s Aussie contingent could play key role

Portsmouth’s Australian contingent could play a key role in attracting players to Fratton Park.

Mousinho has shown that players from overseas can excel on the south coast, and despite financial barriers, the Blues are becoming an attractive club to play for in the Championship.

Whether Robertson does end up at Portsmouth or not, the Blues will find other alternatives from abroad, such as Hungarian Mark Kosznovszky, who has recently been linked.

All eyes remain on Robertson, for now.
