Portsmouth midfielder ‘finished at Fratton Park’ after major exit update

Portsmouth have already seen some notable faces leave Fratton Park following their first season back in the Championship.

Loan players such as Rob Atkinson and Freddie Potts played a vital role in keeping the Blues in the second tier, but they have both returned to their parent clubs.

Matt Ritchie looks set to follow them out of PO3, with the 35-year-old set to leave the South Coast club after John Mousinho was unable to guarantee him the playing time he was looking for.

Along with Potts and Isaac Hayden, another midfielder now also looks set to leave Pompey as the exodus continues.

Abdoulaye Kamara set for Pompey exit

Kamara looks set to be the latest player to leave the Blues, with Mousinho having already sanctioned the sale of Ryley Towler.

Kamara, 20, arrived from Borussia Dortmund last summer, but his time in Portsmouth looks to be short-lived, with the midfielder not being a part of Mousinho’s pre-season squad in Slovakia.

According to The News (10 July), the former Paris-Saint-Germain player has returned to France, where he will carry out his own programme despite initially reporting for testing last month.

The youngster struggled for regular first-team minutes last season as he failed to break into the starting XI, and now has been told he can leave.

Certain portions of the Pompey fanbase feel the 20-year-old was never allowed to showcase his talents in a blue shirt, and he should instead be loaned out; however, this does not appear to be the case.

Midfield signings are a must for Mousinho

With Adrian Segecic being the only addition to Portsmouth’s squad so far for next season, the Blues need to act promptly in the transfer market.

Andy Cullen and Co are sure to be aware of the deficiencies in midfield that need to be addressed, hence the rumours linking Pompey to Pelle Mattsson.

Although Norwich have seen their bid for the Danish midfielder rejected, the Blues must be quick to make an offer of their own to avoid missing out on their man.

With Kamara possibly moving on, that need is only growing more urgent.
