‘Portsmouth can hold off on Barry deal’ to agree cut-price deal with Aston Villa

Portsmouth have been linked with a swoop for Louie Barry this summer.

Pompey are in need of attacking reinforcements moving into the new season to help push up the Championship table.

Strength in depth will certainly be a boost at Fratton Park, something which could certainly be helped by the addition of the 22-year-old.

This could see John Mousinho and Co. delay a swoop for the forward in order to help land a bargain deal in the latter stages of the window.

Aston Villa could soon agree cut-price Barry deal

As things stand, the financial situation of the Villans is seemingly uncertain moving deeper into the window at B6.

This has seen a number of exit links swirl around Villa Park, with Barry edging closer to the exit door after a loan spell at Hull City last campaign.

An injury curtailed his spell with the Tigers, but that didn’t stop them from looking to make that deal permanent in recent weeks.

That deal has been cancelled now due to an EFL embargo at the MKM Stadium, leaving Villa frustrated with the failed sale.

This is where Pompey could step in to sign Barry, but a delayed move could prove to be an ideal option to help engineer the best possible deal financially.

The longer this window goes on and the need for additional funds increases, Unai Emery could let the Englishman go for a cheaper fee than initially demanded.

Portsmouth could land Barry bargain

It is fair to say that almost every Championship side would love to bring the former Stockport County loanee in this summer.

With that being said, the youngster will likely be keen for regular minutes in the second tier, something that Pompey could offer.

This could see Barry link up with the likes of Colby Bishop and Josh Murphy to help form a devastating forward line on the south coast.

With the addition of Adrian Segecic already complete, the PO4 club could be set to head into the season with a dynamic, attacking side.
